Pastor Tammy Barthels

Pastor Tammy Barthels began serving at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in July 2015. Pastor Tammy was born and raised in the Wausau area and moved to the northern city limits of Wausau when she married.

Pastor Tammy graduated from Warburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa, and was an intern Pastor at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Wausau, Wis., from June 2013 to June 2014. Immanuel is her first call as a pastor. She did a unit of Clinical Pastoral Education in 1997 and worked with Hospice form 1997 to 2001. She completed a 3-year Spiritual Direction Program through the Franciscan Spirituality Center in LaCross, Wis., in 2005. Pastor Tammy has facilitated many retreats at St. Anthony Spirituality Center in Marathon, Wis.

When she isn't at church, Pastor Tammy enjoys the outdoors — gardening, walking, bike riding and being on the lake. The interest comes out in her photography as well.

Pastor Tammy and her husband, Randy, have three grown children — Adam, Brad and Rebecca. They have four grandchildren: Alfonzo, Owen, Carly and Jordan.

My goals for the congregation are that they may know the love of Christ and to share Christ's love with others; building faith and community with one another.
