Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church is active in a number of Rhinelander area organizations by collecting donations of goods or monetary support and/or going out and volunteering right here in our community.
Activities and Events
Giving Tree: Coordinate the Giving Tree project, an annual drive to provide gifts to residents in an area nursing home and an assisted living home. The tree is decorated with paper ornaments created by the committee and displayed in the church gathering room. Members and visitors select one or more paper ornament, each of which indicates gift ideas. The gifts are purchased by those taking the tags and returned prior to Christmas for distribution.
Blood Drive: Immanuel sponsors two blood drives a year with the Community Blood Drive, one in the fall and one in the spring.
Food Pantry: Immanuel volunteers the second Saturday of each month at the Rhinelander Area Food Pantry. Both members and visitors have volunteered. Sign-up for this in the Narthex.
And he said to them, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation."
— Mark 16:15
The Table Community Meal: On December 30 of every year Immanuel members volunteer at The Table at St. Augustine's Church in Rhinelander to prepare and serve a meal. The meal is held at St. Augustine's on the last day of every month (except December) at 5:30 p.m. For more information, contact 715-420-0066.
Frederick Place Meals: Immanuel members prepare a meal the last Thursday of each month for residents of Frederick Place — the Northwoods Alliance for Temporatry Housing (NATH) home in Rhinelander.
Helping Community Organizations: We have offered donations to different organizations (police department, fire department, hospital) to help fund their projects.
Potlucks and Picnics: We hold several potlucks over the course of the year and a picnic at the end of summer. Stay tuned for these by checking out our newsletter online.
